Love Story a La Fonda
Dear Friends,
There’s a raw honesty and authentic spirit that embodies my dear friend, Bill Hearne, who alongside his late-wife Bonnie, entertained audiences throughout the Lone Star State and New Mexico. Performing on stages in Red River, Taos, Santa Fe, Dallas, Albuquerque and Austin for decades – the duo combined their voices with fiddle and steel guitar– charming audiences with their country-influenced sound.

Bonnie’s rich harmonies balanced Bill’s flat-picking guitar style, and I swear, the blend of their voices together still resonates throughout our lounge and lobby – after all these years. Sadly, we lost Bonnie in 2017, but her legacy is honored through Bill’s Americana rich performances that keep bringing folks back for two-steppin’ and good-old-fashioned good times. Chef Lane has prepared a delicious Valentine’s Prix Fixe dinner to be enjoyed in Santa Fe’s most romantic dining room – featuring burrata and grilled peach, grilled lobster & petite filet mignon, and wild berry meringue – to name a few of the items. Count me in!
There have been too many festive weddings, special anniversaries, and thoughtful engagements that have taken place within these walls to keep count, but one thing’s for sure, love carries us forward. I truly believe love is the foundation of our success, inspiring every experience we create and every moment we share at La Fonda. As we move forward on our individual journeys, may love remain at the center of our intentions—guiding us toward meaningful connections, shared experiences, and a deeper appreciation for those we hold dear, as well as those with whom we seek common ground.

Discover Santa Fe’s largest collection of turquoise at Gemsong Gallery, next to Detours at La Fonda.
Gemsong recently launched the Turquoise, Mineral & Gem Museum located just blocks from the hotel. Owner, Peter Vajda is able to share his rich knowledge with the public through this highly curated space. He is an international colored gemstone expert and helped write definitions dealing with gem material use concerning Native American jewelry authenticity for State and Federal laws.
