Lights, Camera, La Fonda!

Dear Friends,

Santa Fe is the oldest capital city in America, and our “inn at the end of the trail” has always been the place where Native American, Spanish Colonial, and Anglo cultures intersect. We are blessed to be in the center of such a dynamic city, and we understand our responsibility to honor the rich history, cultures and people that make Santa Fe a sought-after destination worldwide. Part of that responsibility is documenting and safeguarding the events and people that animate our community and make La Fonda brim with stories – old and new – creating a sense of place that is authentic and true.

A Busy Street With Cars And People

That’s why we poured our heart and soul into the making of La Fonda’s Centennial documentary, a film by Hutton Broadcasting. It is narrated by our dear friend Ali MacGraw and includes many of Santa Fe’s luminaries, such as Paul Bardacke, Tony Abeyta and Barbara Felix, to name a few. The film captured the stories of Santa Fe treasures Marian Silver, Tom Catron and Bud Kelly; all recently departed and greatly missed. The project took three years of research, interviews, and editing, and it was worth every minute. I’m thrilled to announce that the film, highlighting our 100-year history, will air this May on NMPBS. Mark your calendars for our watch party in the Lumpkins Ballroom on Thursday, May 11, 2023. The documentary will air at 7pm, so arrive early and enjoy drinks and lite fare before the show!

With Easter Sunday right around the corner, Chef Lane and his team have put together a special prix fixe menu for families to enjoy at La Plazuela. Check out the menu here.  This special menu is available only from 11am – 2:45pm. It’s always recommended to book a table in advance – especially on holidays!

A Man Playing A Trumpet

And, if you haven’t caught one of our special Jazz Jam sessions with Delbert Anderson at La Fiesta Lounge, make sure you make it to one of his performances this month. The Institute of American Indian Arts’ Artist in Resident brings together communities through music and laughter. Delbert, along with his rotating crew of visiting musicians and comedians, will be performing April 6th, 14th, 20th in La Fiesta Lounge and closing out his tenure with a Grand Finale Performance in La Fonda’s Lumpkins Ballroom on Friday, April 21st. Free and open to the public, the event combines original instrumental compositions of the Delbert Anderson Trio with a display of eight large format, multimedia art pieces painted by artist, Karen Ellsbury and photographed by Patrick Hazen.  We hope you can make it!

Happy Easter and Happy Passover!
