To visit the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is to take part in a surreal union of adventure seekers with New Mexico’s captivating skies. Look up and you’ll be dazzled by a moving art installation that takes collaboration to new heights. This year, guests of La Fonda can take advantage of a shuttle service to and from the Balloon Fiesta. Space is limited, so book your seat right away!
October is also a time to reflect on the busy summer and fall season – the International Folk Art Market, Spanish Market, the Santa Fe Indian Market, Music on the Plaza, the Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta – and countless other events which were a hit! It was so nice to take part in these notable gatherings that reflect the communal spirit of our city. La Fonda, as always, is honored to be positioned in the heart of the action and welcome visitors and guests back after a couple of trying years. We know many folks out there suffered during the pandemic and it sure is nice to be moving towards more normalcy.
I’m thrilled to announce that La Fonda has been named a finalist in multiple categories in the Historic Hotels of America 2022 Awards of Excellence. Our Director of Sales and Hotel Historian, Ed Pulsifer is in the running for Historian of the Year; VP & GM, Rik Blyth is up for Hotelier of the Year; La Plazuela Server, Stormi Stahlhut is a nominee for Ambassador of the Year for her 25+ years of service; La Plazuela for Best Restaurant, and La Fonda for Best Hotel in a City Center. It’s always an honor to be acknowledged for our hospitality, but during our Centennial Year, it is especially notable! Please join me in congratulating our finalist nominees and keep your fingers crossed for winning results!
Our team has been remarkably busy celebrating and promoting our 100-year milestone – that’s why HHA has invited Rik Blyth and our Director of Marketing, Britta Andersson, to spearhead a workshop at this year’s conference on the planning and promoting of historic milestones. From logo creation and documentary production to organizing a year-long speaker series, there has been quite a bit to plan! The event will take place next month at the Grand Hotel Golf Resort and Spa in Alabama. If you’re in the area, we’d love to see you!
The October Centennial Speaker Series highlights an era of New Mexico music where the influences of Blues, Jazz and Rockabilly fused with Bluegrass and Rock and Roll. Speaker and local vinyl connoisseur Dick Rosemont will guide us through the music of the 1960s – the soundtrack to the Civil Rights Movement, the Space Race and Beatlemania! Get your groove on with us in the New Mexico Room October 21, 2-4pm MST!
