Two significant paintings from La Fonda’s art collection by Paul Lantz (above: En La Placita) from the 1930s, are also located in the Ballroom (click here for details about Lantz and the art of La Fonda).
The character of the room is also enriched by the stained glass and tin chandeliers, sconce lights (right), clay-tiled fireplaces and the sandpainting murals on the ceiling, all of which were hand-crafted by local artisans. |

Named for the prominent local architect who designed the room, the Lumpkins Ballroom is a treasure of art and artifacts. The hotel’s resident artist Ernest Martinez painted the Mimbres designs around the perimeter of the room (left) as well as the reproductions of Navajo rug designs and the images above the fireplaces.
